During the #ErasmusDays2025, HLW Lipizzanerheimat dedicated an entire week to sustainability, regional appreciation, and mindful interaction with the environment. Each grade level took part in unique activities, workshops, and excursions designed to promote environmental awareness and responsible citizenship. Throughout the week, students not only learned about sustainability in theory but also experienced it in practice, gaining valuable insights into how their actions can make a difference.
1st Year:
Our youngest students explored the topic of sustainability through hands-on workshops on preserving regional and seasonal foods — healthy and delicious! They also joined a community clean-up activity and visited the local wastewater treatment plant, where they learned about water management and recycling in an interactive way. These experiences helped them understand the importance of mindful consumption and environmental responsibility in their everyday lives.
2nd Year:
The second-year students discovered sustainable agriculture by visiting a variety of regional farms that focus on environmentally friendly practices. Back at school, they participated in workshops on proper waste separation and redesigned the school’s waste bins with clearer labels and creative designs. Many students expressed pride in improving their school’s sustainability and felt motivated to continue their efforts beyond the classroom.
3rd Year:
The third-year students embraced the philosophy of Slow Food during visits to local producers and restaurants. Their workshops, one of them entitled “Roots to Leaves”, focused on using natural resources fully and responsibly. As one of the highlights of the week, they created an e-magazine titled “Ditch the plastic - save the earth”, which showcased their insights, reflections, and creative ideas on environmental topics. The project strengthened their teamwork and digital communication skills while deepening their understanding of global sustainability issues.
4th Year:
The fourth-year students set off on a nature hike, reconnecting with the beauty of their surroundings and developing a deeper appreciation for their homeland. The day encouraged mindfulness, respect, and gratitude toward the environment. Many students later shared that this simple yet powerful experience helped them slow down and see the value of nature with new eyes.
5th Year:
On the final day, the fifth-year students represented the school at the main square with an Erasmus+ information booth. They shared stories and experiences from previous Erasmus+ projects and promoted the many opportunities the program offers. In addition, they presented and gave away products created throughout the week — a fitting conclusion to days full of learning, creativity, and community spirit. The students took pride in acting as ambassadors for Erasmus+ and gained confidence in presenting their school’s international engagement to the public.
Through these diverse and inspiring activities, the HLW Lipizzanerheimat once again demonstrated its commitment to sustainability, cultural exchange, and the European spirit of Erasmus+. The week left a lasting impression on students and teachers alike. Reminding everyone that meaningful change begins with awareness, curiosity, and action.
